HORIZON 2020

The MIRACLE project ushers in a novel paradigm within science and technology. It proposes a transformative approach to engineer low-tech concrete and cement-based materials into high-performance functional photonic metamaterials. Notably, the project aims to construct and rigorously test a groundbreaking Photonic Meta-Concrete (PMC). This PMC will be meticulously designed to exhibit a tailored response to light, specifically enabling radiative cooling. In simpler terms, the PMC will possess the remarkable capability to passively expel heat from buildings directly into outer space, eliminating the need for additional energy consumption for cooling purposes.
